it’s actually heinous what people have done to the concept of consent tbh. it was meant to raise awareness about rape and sexual assault and to inform people on avoiding nonconsensual situations, but then people just started misapplying it to everything but rape and sexual assault, and saying shit like “um i didn’t consent to seeing you in public like that” or “i didn’t consent to you giving me food” or whatever. it’s like people don’t actually give a shit about preventing rape and sexual assault, they only give a shit about policing other peoples’ existence and behaviours by framing them as a violation of their “consent”
